Dryer Vent
Do your clothes seem to take forever to dry, leaving you feeling like you’re stuck in laundry limbo?
That’s probably your dryer vent crying out for help! Over time, lint and debris can build up in the vent, turning your laundry room into a potential fire hazard. Take a moment to channel your inner lint warrior and give that vent a good cleaning.
Gutters and Exterior
Spring showers bring… clogged gutters?
You heard that right! Those gutters might be harboring more leaves than a tree in autumn, and it’s up to you to set them free. Grab a ladder (and a buddy for safety) and get to scooping. And while you’re at it, give your home a good hosing down to banish those pesky cobwebs and winter grime.
Tips of the Trade
Lately, allergies have been at an all-time high and while spring brings new blooms, our home collects pollen, dust and other air pollutants that we track in faster than we think.
As a result, our energy bills start to pile up quicker than that pile of used tissues sitting on your nightstand. So, let’s get into it – Three Spring HVAC Tips to relieve the stress on your allergies and utility bills.
Replace HVAC Air Filters
Homeowners must change air filters each season. This will allow your heat pump or air conditioner to run smoothly. When the air filter is clogged, it’ll restrict the airflow of the cooling unit. As a result, your cooling unit will have to operate longer, and eventually, you’ll have higher electric bills. Apart from this, a clogged air filter will decrease indoor air quality.
Ensure Proper Insulation
When you have old windows in your home, produced cool air will leak through them. As a result, your air conditioner unit will have to operate longer to reach the desired temperature. This will eventually put a lot of stress on the cooling unit. Also, don’t forget to add the high electric bills with it. Again, if you have an asthma family member, it’s recommended to close the doors all the time.
Clean the Air DuctsÂ
Ducts carry the produced air to our rooms. Over time, air ducts can become dirty and mold can grow. This can cause serious respiratory issues and sickness throughout the household. The best things to do is get out the vacuum hose and go over the grates & into the ducts to catch those pesky spiderwebs and dust traps.
Make a Pet-Approved Purchase
If buying a home is top of mind for you this year, we believe all members of the family should be included in the purchase decision. Yes, even your fur babies!
It’s important to mention your pets to your realtor, so they can keep them in-mind when house hunting.
Comfortability should be an important factor and here are a few things to look for if you have small or large animals coming along in the move.
Walking Trails and Green Space
Pets need room to roam! Just like us, our pets enjoy nature. Look for a neighborhood that has dedicated sidewalks for safety. Communities that offer wide walking trails and green space areas for playtime are a huge bonus. Your realtor will be able to tell you where nearby traditional parks or dog parks are.
Natural Light
Look at how the home faces. If the home you are looking for faces north and south, sun spots might be hard to find your home or only found within bedrooms – keep this in mind when those paws are trying to find a place to cozy-up. Â A home that faces east and west offers more sun spots.
Good Ventilation
The quality of indoor air is extremely important for pet owners. Make sure the HVAC system of your potential new home is equipped with excellent air filtration. Dirty filters and systems will re-circulate debris throughout your home. It’s best to replace filters every 30-45 days for clean, breathable air.
