Tips of the Trade

Don’t let that squeaky garage door go without! Comprehensive inspections will help tune-up and keep your garage door in good, working order. Here’s a quick checklist of things to look at, get an opinion on, or replace completely!

Does your garage door appear to be opening and shutting correctly? Is it quiet or loud and clunky? Does everything seem balanced? Any unusual noises? These can indicate something is wrong.
It is very common for hardware to become loose on residential garage doors over time. Inspect roller brackets and bolts to help ensure nothing becomes misaligned or damaged.
Weatherstripping seals out moisture, cold or hot air, and unwanted creatures, creating a more temperate, comfortable environment within the garage. Replace if necessary!

Around the House

FOURTH OF JULY SAFETY

  • COOKING ON THE GRILL Never grill indoors and keep the grill out in the open – away from the house, off the deck, away from tree branches or anything that could catch fire.
  • CELEBRATING WITH FIREWORKS Keep an ample supply of water close by as a precaution. Use a 5 gallon bucket to put out sparklers. Never throw or point a firework toward people, animals, vehicles, structures, or flammable materials.
  • SUN UP TO SUN DOWN If you’re hosting all day, consider keeping sunscreen nearby and a cooler filled with water! Temperatures get pretty steamy and dehydration happens very easily. Most celebrations continue into the evening. Ample lighting is important for all your guests – young and old!

Staycation at Home

Summer’s in full swing and if you’re itching for some time off, consider taking a break at home with a mini summer oasis! Create the ultimate staycation at home this summer.  Here are a few ways that won’t break the bank and that will add to some family fun memories.

  1. Add a hammock, firepit, and water feature outdoors and enjoy the serene sounds of nature.
  2. Have a picnic with local fruits and veggies, alongside brightly colored cocktails or mocktails.
  3. Every once in a while, a rainstorm comes in during the heat of the summer. This is the perfect day to create a cozy reading nook with spa-like music.

While it may be more challenging to find the home of your dreams in a seller’s market, it is possible with planning and preparation. The first step to alleviate any stress is to meet with your Gresham Group agent and discuss the absolute needs of you and your family. If you are looking to sell during the same time, we can discuss the immediate needs to get your home on the market as well. The most important thing is to get pre-approved in advance with proper documentation. This puts you in a stronger position when you’re ready.
